FROM THE ROOTS...
AGROTOURISM IN COSTA RICA

Day 01
Arrival to Juan Santamaría International airport, a bilingual driver-guide will be waiting for you to take you to their hotel. Your clients will receive a welcome-orientation kit that will include maps, hotel descriptions and, a comprehensive itinerary as well as emergency contact numbers. Meals on your own. Overnight at the Bouganvillea Hotel.
Day 02
Early morning transfer to the area of Poás Volcano to visit some of the most successful flowers and ferns plantations in the country, and continue to the Poás Volcano National Park. Return to Bougainvillea Hotel.
Day 03
After breakfast, transportation to the Cartago area to visit the mini-vegetables farms. This innovative program produces several organic vegetables that are exported to many destinations in the US and Europe. The group will continue after visiting this project to Turrialba Area, one of the best areas in the country to learn about new crops and agriculture process. Check in and overnight at CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center).
Day 04
Full day to explore this research center and university that is doing constant research on ecology and sustainable development of new crops. Overnight at the CATIE.
Day 05
Early ground transfer to EARTH College, another research center doing some very interesting programs in banana plantations, and producing and inventing products such as banana paper. It is lately working with NASA, developing agriculture experiments on zero gravity. Overnight at EARTH University. (Tropical Humid Agricultural School)
Day 06
Full day to visit the facilities and its numerous projects. Overnight at EARTH University.
Day 07
Early transfer back to San Jose. Overnight at Bougainvillea Hotel. Afternoon free for some last minute shopping.
Day 08
Transfer to the airport or optional extension to relax at the beach.
