CLASSIC COSTA RICA ADVENTURE
ITINERARY
DAY 1
A Costa Rica Cheap Travel representative will be waiting for you at the international airport for your transfer to the San Jose hotel, where you are going to receive a short briefing of the itinerary and the documents or vouchers for your trip. You will be lodging at the Country Inn & Suites. It is located just a few minutes from San Jose downtown, in one of the oldest and nicest districts.
DAY 2, 3 & 4
You'll depart San José early in the morning, stopping for a delicious breakfast, at the New Ríos Tropicales Operations Center, before arriving at the river. Once at the river, your friendly and professional guides will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you complete safety and paddle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim.
Before you know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning Ríos Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Nestled in the jungle on our 1,000-acre private reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious with clean linen, and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity is generated by a self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical evening, followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine served by your guides.
Day 2
Don't worry about wake-up time. The beauty of the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge surroundings. You can choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high into the Pacuare Reserve; a 2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge - or just relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. Experience a side of the Pacuare few people know!
Day 3
After a hearty breakfast and loading the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served at the New Ríos Tropicales Operations Center. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are also available. Overnight at Hotel Suerre.
DAY 5 & 6
Today we are going to send you to Tortuguero, bordered by the Caribbean Sea, Toruguero National Park contains an incredible network of navigable canals, and boats are the only way to get around. Mangrove forests that edge the canals are the place to look for wildlife. The parks 7km/23 miles of beaches are protected nesting grounds for the green sea turtle (in season from July to October). It is a memorable experience. It is also famous for its deep-sea fishing and the Tortuguero canals, a complex of inland rivers that criss-cross mangrove forests. For the next two days you will have the opportunity of visit one of the hot spots for birdwatching, a three days/two nights package, with the local tours included, you will be amazed of these great experience. Overnight at Mawamba Lodge. This lodge in nestled in the lush rainforest, on a sand bar between the Tortuguero canals, and the Caribbean Ocean.
DAY 7 & 8
On the way back to San Jose, you are going to stop for lunch at Rio Danta Restaurant where your private transfer will pick you up to take you to the Arenal Volcano famous for its nighttime lava fireworks, Arenal Volcano towers above a lovely lake of the same name. The area has plenty of natural activities eco-adventures, and the lake is particularly popular with fishermen and windsurfers. The thermal springs near Ecotermales offer a refreshing dip any time of the day. The volcano itself rumbles frequently and, if not socked in the clouds, is very impressive - and just a tad exciting. You will be staying for two nights at Arenal Volcano Hotel. For the second night we include dinner and entrance to Ecotermales Hot springs.
DAY 9 & 10
Early in the morning your transfer will take you to Monteverde Cloud Forest area, it’s the most famous cloud forest in the world. The Tropical Science Center administrates the reserve and most of the times you can see a lot of birds and animal. The Monteverde area has dozens of activities to do like the zip lining, frog ponds, snake farms, hanging bridges in the forest and many more. We have for you the entrance and private guide to the Monteverde Reserve and the Sky Trek (canopy Tour) included for the second day. Overnight at Trapp Family Lodge.
DAY 11, 12 & 13
Early in the morning your transfer will take you to the Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica to the Manuel Antonio National Park are. You will be staying at Espadilla Hotel. Manuel Antonio National Park is famous for its stunning beaches, two of them sandy beaches named Espadilla Sur and Manuel Antonio. The park encloses 12 rocky islands that are a sanctuary for seabirds and sea creatures (dolphins, whales. Turtles) lush rainforest and wildlife. Commonly you can see monkeys, sloths, coatimundis and many birds. Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the country’s most visited and beautiful parks. Surrounded by gorgeous nature.
DAY 14
Your transfer will pick you up in the afternoon to take you to San Jose. Overnight Country Inn & Suites.
DAY 15
A Costa Rica Cheap Travel representative will be picking you up three hours prior to you plane departure time for your transfer to the International Airport.
